It sure does. Big Time!
As per the university norms, the 4th semester students have to undergo technical/industrial training of 40 days or 6 weeks. I completed the first 15 days @ BSNL Fafadih exchange, learning about EWSD TAX department. To take the next set of training some of the guys visited MY FM Radio Station which is near Kachahri Chowk. The Person in charage there, said that they could provide us with 30 days certificate.
Now we entered the Station today and were made to sit in their conference room for almost 2 hours, after that the PiC came and asked us how many people were considering doing training there and what all were our expectations..
We answered to the point that, we where there just for the Certificates and nothing else. Because this Certificate along with the Report and Presentation carries 40 marks which will be added up in the 5th semester exams.
Then he said that they had jotted down the program and schedule of the next 30 days that we would be spending there..
1. First 10 days, do the survey in Raipur & Bhilai area as to how many people listen to FM radio, which Station they prefer, favo. shows, RJs etc..
2. We’d have to take part in the management of the various events organized by the Radio Station.
3. In the end they would provide us with the ppt required for giving the presentation @ the college.
Now this would sound a treat because they aren’t charging us anything, but inturn they are making us work for them according to their own job profile.
Talked with some people there and came to know that the station was short of surveying people and also event managing people, thats why they sought to use the Engineering Students that came there seeking training in Radio Communication, communication being the chief subjet in 5th sem Electronics and Telecommunication branch.
It sure is no gain situation for the students because they are to be told the things that every one knows about Radio/FM communication.. we overheard people saying that when their Engineer would arrive for his weekly visits, they’d ask him to teach the students.
Lets see how many people go to the studio tomorrow for the start of surveys and all.
Now am thinking of enrolling in some Computer Institutes and brush up my C++ knowlege and keep in touch with BSNL to get 40 days training certificate.
