Order Procedure: I had configured the laptop in their site on 3rd May and filed a form for sales assistance for the same. Got a call from their sales executive on 6th. Talked with him and got my doubts cleared. As required by their Logistics dept., had to get the Form-60 signed by the Sales Tax authority of my place. Mailed them the DD and Form-60 on 10th. They received it on 12th and the order processing started on the same day. The order was ready by 16th and was sent to me the same day by BlueDart Courier. As it was coming by the Trailer Wagon, I received it on 20th afternoon.

Packaging: The laptop came in a knee length sized carton and was packaged very well. On opening the box first saw the Nylon Case. It has so many pockets that much stuff can be put in it. It sure is ideal for carrying laptop to the college every day. It is well cushioned and the handle is so soft that you feel like that the laptop weighs much less when kept inside it.

After removing the nylon case, lies the box which contains the manuals, various CDs, cables etc. The Power Cable is packed separately. The Bluetooth Headset is also placed in a separate box.

The laptop is placed nicely with thermocol wrappings holding it tightly. As soon as you open the wrapping sheet you are treated with the eye-candy colour Blossom :D I know its very girly, but I love it.. :P

Booting it up: The first booting was rather slow, the user account was already made, Vista asked what you would name the computer and all.

Performance: I have been using it from the past 2 weeks and must say it is surely my DREAM laptop. Haven’t had any issues with it *thank God for that*. It works seamlessly and does well to my little use of writing documents, notes, making presentations, listening music, watching videos and all. Must say genuine VISTA Home Premium works faster than the pirated VISTA Ultimate Edition I use in my pc.

The reading and writing capabilities of the DVD RW is slow compared to the pc but pretty good when you consider it to be a part of the laptop.

The keyboard is perfect. It was the main reason I opted for the Dell laptop, because some laptops that I had tried earlier on seemed rather unresponsive..

The touchpad has some issues though.. it goes hay ware when the lower half of the laptop gets heated up. But this behaviour is only for a few seconds. Everything goes back to normal soon. Battery life is great and works for almost 3.5 hours [tested :D]

The screen’s native resolution is 1280×800 and the wallpapers supplied with the laptop do justice to the screen. It’s a TrueLife TFT which means its gets a bit unreadable in sunlight, but nothing to be scared off. With a better viewing angle and brightness setting this problem is taken care of.

For most of the time am listening to the music via the Bluetooth headsets provided. Initially had some paring issues though.. which were sorted out asa I reset the headset. The headset when fully charged can be used for almost 5-6 hours or more. It takes it time to get charged though.

The Bluetooth and wifi are controlled by the switch that finds its place at the bottom of the PCMCIA card slot. I have removed the dummy and placed the remote control in the card slot.

In the front there are two head-phone jacks and one microphone jack. The blue LEDs signalling the power, hard disk usage, battery power, wifi and Bluetooth find its place at the bottom left section of the laptop. Above the keyboard are the media keys.

There is also the media direct button which can be used to access the Media Direct software for listen songs, watch movies/ videos or type in documents without booting up the laptop. Can come really handy at times.

The integrated webcam is super cool, can capture images at the max resolution of 3200×2400 and the video recorder’s max pixel is 1600×1200. Has many predefined effects which can be used when taking photos. Webcam can also be used for remote monitoring, motion detecting and time lapse video.

Final Words: In all, am completely satisfied with my purchase and the ~ 50k rupees towards the laptop were well spent. It is a VFM laptop and surely has great flaunt value :P
BTW make sure you install Vista SP1 because a remarkable increase in speed is noticed after that.
