The Shifting Chronicles

July22

On 26th June we the seniors aka 3rd yr gals availing the hostel facility were called in the management room and told that our hostel was going to be shifted on Sunday.

Me and roomie were kinda sad cos that meant we wouldn’t be able to spend the weekend @ home. Anyways the day ended with all of us starting with the packing process.

Next day after the college ended we were informed that the college will remain close on Saturday because the AICTE inspection team were to re-inspect the new college @ Bhilai – 3.

That initially meant that the whole weekend would go as a waste for us [me n roomie]

Anyways we did all our packing on Saturday, slept a lot and ate lots too.. The warden had instructed the servants to prepare special dish for us, a farewell you can say. The plain kadhi tasted good.

Now we slept pretty late thinking that this was our last night at that hostel and tomorrow we would be shifted to a totally new place, we were sad that we would be leaving the exclusivity of the room that we had.. we were the few special ones who resided in rooms that had balconies :D

I woke up pretty early on Sunday morning, did the chores before my roomie woke up and then read scriptures. Thanked God for the blessings the place had been to me for the past 2 years of my life.

Then finished with what was left and then waited on for the Hostel In-charge to arrive or call. In the meanwhile my roomie woke up and got busy with her packing and all. After she bathed she told me why are you still in your tee and Capri, better get dressed and wait for bhaiya to arrive. I told her that we will get dressed after the people arrive to shift us. Can’t believe that it was that the best decision that I took that day. Why?? Because no one came to shift us that day and we were stuck up there for a day again?

We called up one of the Management Sir and asked him for directions to the new hostel, were amazed to know that it was located above a Bank. Told the batchmates/ juniors about it and asked if they wanted to visit the place. We all agreed to go there around 5pm. So at 5:30 we left the hostel to check out the new hostel.

We reached the place and found it all locked. One of the flat’s occupants told us that the workmen had left so the flats were locked up. But we were free to check out her flat. As the flat was furnished according to a family, none of us liked it. We all were wondering how the heck are we going to live in such kind of place. Any way the day ended and we woke up on Monday to find us packing for bits and pieces again. We went college and were told that all our belongings would be shifted to the new hostel. And we would only have to visit the old place just to see if nothing of our baggage was left out. When we landed back, we were told that only our almirah’s made it to the new place and that none of our luggage was shifted. We carried our stuff in the bus and set off to the new hostel.

As the new hostel people were not aware that we would be shifting all of a sudden (thanks to the Aunty, who kicked us out from the old place), not much arrangements were made, i.e the bed had not been prepared. So we slept on the ground with the mattresses on. The dinner that day was good. Problem started in the morning as only 3 bathrooms were available to us and we were 15 girls, anyways we managed and started adjusting to the place.

Its been almost 20 days since we shifted and must say the bhaiya there is pretty much helping and the warden is good too.. Thought the rules are a bit strict but am enjoying living there..

I just love eating together, doing assignments together, watching tv together, crying and laughing together there!

Psst: I haven’t been paid to write this review, and if you would like to avail the GH facility, feel free to talk to me, I would love to be of any help.

yeah.. the assignments took a toll on me…

n re’ the togetherness part, @ the old hostel, almost everyone was confined @ their rooms as we didn’t had a common room to meet..

we are actually living in a hostel now.. :)
