Not Ur Average Girl

So What I’m Not Your Average Girl ?

Has this ever happened to you?

October14

So you’ve got one of those fancy plans activated in your landline phone which lets you make call to the same operators landline and mobile phones free…

So what do you do when you are free and have absolutely nothing to do?? If you are a mother, you call your youngest daughter who stays in the hostel :P

Hehe.. the other day mom called me in the evening and we talked about the usual things, me, mom, mamu [maternal uncle], bro, sis, bhabhi [sister-in-law], nieces, badi mummy [maternal aunt] and the rest of the family members…

We discussed about the caterer who would be in-charge of the small birthday party dinner on occasion of Alicia’s 1st birthday. The dishes, sweets, list of invitees…

Whats coming in tv? Mom didn’t knew that God TV’s “Mission’s Week” was starting from today.. that meant that mom and mamu would watch more of TBN and FE TV. The various programs she watched in the Christian channels… Benny Hinn, Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, CBN India… I suggested her to watch Paula White, as I had loved her sermon on the saturday morning I was home.

Told her that we watched Hello and that it was not worth a watch and the book was sitting in my study table back at home and she was welcome to read it..

Talked about badi mummy’s annual visit.. she will be here from New Delhi on 23rd of this month. Last time she was here was when Alicia was born. As she has earlier commitments, will be in Mumbai for Convention and thus will arrive here late.. She is bringing me a couple of “good” salwar suits and some cool tees.

I asked mom to get me a Pocket size English Bible. Preferably NIV or The Message Versions. Most probably badi mummy will get it for me from Delhi.

For the nth no. of time, she had forgotten the year I got Baptized. So made her jot down the dates as well as bro’s wedding dates cos she has to mention them when writing the application for Leaving the Church. She told me that the Pastor from St. Paul’s Church, Pastor Yeshudan visited home and she told him that the whole of us would like to join the Church. As mamu is a member there we don’t have to take the Associate member route. We can directly apply for a full-time membership there. I am really looking forward to meeting the amazing guys and gals who constitute the youth group there.. some of them play Guitar really well.. am thinking of taking lessons from them during VBS.

Then we talked about Mamu’s sis-in-law’s visit to the Holy Land. She and uncle went there with Paul Dhinakaran and family. It was a week long trip but they stayed at Oman for the first 2 days as Paul’s meetings where scheduled there.. they were in Israel for the remaining days.. they visited a few places here and there… am told they weren’t able to visit “Via Dolorosa” aka the famous path Christ took when he was carrying the Cross. The whole trip set them back by 2-3lakhs or so…. quite expensive… considering they went with an Indian team… even Benny Hinn and God TV cost way less….

Was fooling around with mom saying its high time I got my passport prepared… cos we now have a Passport Office rite here in Raipur city!!! She told me that mamu was telling her to visit Jerusalem with bro. But she told that she would love visiting it with her daughter-in-law and I was like “MOM, what about your daughter???” hehe :P Convinced her to plan her vacations with me cos no one takes care of her more than me… and bares with her in her vacation outbreaks.. I can never forget her epic lines.. “Turn off the AC”… and we were in train then bound to Pune :P

This was just a silly post… I am sure you might be having some like these with you mom :)

i have free vodafone to vodafone calls/sms…but thankfully, i have a lot more people to call than just my mom (almost all my friends are on vodafone - and i live with my parents)

you know the best thing to do with free calls? talk the other person to sleep (or vice versa). it’s the best way to have nice dreams :)

actually.. my mom called, instead of me calling her :P

and as all of my siblings and most of the relatives have a bsnl mobile/ landline; mom is busy talking with them.

As for me, most of my friends use airtel, so I use it to make/ receive the calls from them.. and am not the person who would churn out matters for long phone talks.. I’d rather have a good conversation face to face than over the phone…

Whoa… So even my sister talk all this with my mum. (And I’m always like- Kaam Kii Baat Karoo naa :p )
Me has this kinda conversation with my little sis (She’s doing her B.E from LNCT, Bhopal. Way far from home..).. Just half hour ago I called her - Talked about her hostel, food of mess, practicals, books, classmates, teachers, gossip, solved her prgramming related problems on phone(lol). The funny part is we always talk about same things each day… for hours.. but when she’s home.. we rarely speak a word to each other!

Alicia your sister? Happy Birthday To Her! :)

First of all, a big thumbs up for your blog’s new theme. It really looks good now!

Now regarding your conversation. Don’t you think that sometimes talking about usual things can be a great antidote for a monotonous life? While talking to your mom, you forgot about your college, your hostel, your studies - for a second? For a change?

Trust me, the feeling is great. :)

I completely agree with you Rajat…
life can be so boring with the usual stuff @ college, hostel etc… talking with mom really helps :)
