Just the other day I was talking with my roomie re’ the famous cold war going on between us (the 3rd yrs) and our juniors (2nd yrs). I told her, how blessed they were as they were living in this hostel, they enjoyed so much liberties that we only thought about in the previous hostel..
And the rules.. how we loved breaking them and the jrs were one step ahead of us..
Anyways.. I was going thru’ my inbox in the evening and saw the Streaming Faith Daily Devotional mail with the subject “A Moment Of Thanks” and I immediately set about reading it..
Something written in it caught my eye..
Life is hard, and every day is challenging. You may be wondering just now if you can go on. Perhaps another person is vexing you. Perhaps you’ve been maligned or criticized. You’re discouraged with unanswered prayer. Maybe you’re feeling like Elijah under the broom tree, wanting to die.
Try praying with thanksgiving. A thankful attitude is the cure for many emotional ailments. Take depression, for example. What is depression or discouragement except the total collapse of thanksgiving in our lives?
Thanksgiving is also the opposite of discontent. It’s easy for us to become disgruntled with various factors in our lives; but let’s be like one man who was thankful…
- For the clothes that fit a little too snug because it means I have enough to eat.
- For all the complaining I hear about the government because it means that I have freedom of speech.
- For the alarm that goes off in the early morning hours because it means that I am alive.
- For the teenager who is not doing dishes but is watching TV because that means he is at home and not on the streets.
- For the taxes that I pay because it means that I’m employed.
- For the lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning, and gutters that need fixing because it means I have a home.
- For weariness at the end of the day because it means I have been capable of working hard.
- For the parking spot I find at the far end of the parking lot because it means I am capable of walking and that I have been blessed with transportation.
Was really moved by the words, I just can’t stop thanking God for everything he’s done in my life, family and hostel. Word’s really can’t express it. Its just that.. so many things happen in the day to day life that I can’t stop myself from thanking God every morning & night, my usual praying times.
So, here’s the question. Are you thankful?

I can never get enough of this song, recently listened to it repetitively; so thought of sharing it in the blog. Its from Hillsong’s ‘06 album, Mighty to Save and has been sung by Annie Garratt.
If my heart has grown cold
There Your love will unfold
As You open my eyes to the work of Your hand
When I’m blind to my way
There Your Spirit will pray
As You open my eyes to the work of Your hand
As You open my eyes to the work of Your hand
Oceans will part nations come
At the whisper of Your call
Hope will rise glory shown
In my life Your will be done
Present suffering may pass
Lord Your mercy will last
As You open my eyes to the work of Your hand
And my heart will find praise
I’ll delight in Your way
As You open my eyes to the work of Your hand
As You open my eyes to the work of Your hand

Yesterday, when I made this post, I didn’t knew that somethings happened after most of the people got back to their rooms after the b’day party and most recent what happened before I woke up.
First things first, Shraddha went up to G-mam’s room cos she happens to reside in the same town as my dear Shraddha. She was studying then and made a big fuss of being disturbed at such an hour and all this while Shraddha was standing outside her room carrying her b’day cake. She didn’t wish her and said she’ll see tomorrow morning… Shraddha was deeply hurt and cried a lot.
And then in the morning, the girls from the other hostel turned up here to wish Shraddha and presented her a beautiful bouquet. Now, I happened to miss the entire scene cos I was sleeping then.. was later told that the common room was quite full then cos most of the gals were having their breakfast and G-mam happened to read newspaper then and the 2nd yrs were watching tv and eating…
When Shraddha narrated the full incident to me, I couldn’t stop laughing…. I laughed so hard that I fell from the bed
anyways we had a quite time after that…. I met her around chai time and then fell asleep while studying.. She came to wake me up and told me to get dressed quickly cos I was getting the birthday treat
Had a great evening outing with her and her boyfriend, and no.. I wasn’t the kabab mein haddi

Today is Shraddha aka 40’s birthday.. as is the tradition, gals wished her asa the clock struck 12. It was saddening to see that we didn’t get a full house this time around cos not everyone likes the 3rd yr mam and some people were trying to get into good books of senior mams (the 4th yrs)
Anyway most of the 1st and 2nd yrs turned out to wish her and then were there to eat the chocolate cake. After a couple of minutes, my roomie and couple of other super jrs came up to Shraddha and presented her with a gift. All the happy faces of the 2nd yrs turned rather gloomy.. cos they never expected that their jrs would gift something to their seniors.
Now time passed by quickly and I was back in my room by 12:50am and was arranging things in my side table and bed so that I could get the much needed sleep.. Just at that moment, roomie and another sup jr entered the room and said they wanted to tell me something.. They thought that their seniors would make a big issue out of the fact that their jrs presented a gift to their senior. Considering that only a few days back the 2nd yrs gals celebrated a double birthday.
I told them that there was nothing to worry about and they should not get tensed and head off to sleep.
