Don’t watch Delhi-6!
First off, its been a month since I last blogged, there’s a specific reason about it. Will enlighten about it in another post. But for now lets get back to the movie of the moment, Delhi-6.
Cut back to few weeks when I first heard the songs from the movie. Fell in love with the soundtrack instantly. It was also the first time that I liked a Chhattisgarhi filmi song [Genda Phool]
So about the movie.. the protagonist, Roshan Mehra is an NRI and comes down to Delhi-6 as his grandma wishes to take her last breath at her homeland. He’s kinda shy initially considering that he witnesses typical India/ Delhi in the streets of Delhi-6. What is annoying is that absolutely everything is “kewl” to him.
Abhishek fails to impress in his American accent dialogues and if you read somewhere that Abhishek has like ~15 lines in the movie its absolutely correct.
This is the first time I’ve watched Sonam Kapoor and was really impressed by her. This gal can surely act. She didn’t had much of a role in the movie but her story is well written and carried out quite well.
The neighbours, street wallas portrayed in the movie do impress. The casting is great! Each character has his/ her story going on, but a centralised story line is missing.
The Ramleela scenes tend to get boring after a while and that goes on well with the Kaala Bandar Case too.
The climax has been changed, but I should say that it would have been better if Roshan had died in the end. The whole scene of him meeting with his Grand Pa in Heaven is unwanted.
Cinematography is top class. The way the camera pans over Jama Masjid in the song ‘Arziyaan’ is awesome! One is awestruck by how beautiful Chandni Chowk looks in this movie. So completely different from Chandni Chowk to China.
What to write about the songs? Am in love with them. I listen to the album so often that Shraddha had forbade me to listen to them for a while. My only complain is that the songs are not aired fully. Only the songs Genda Phool and Dil Gira Dafatan are played fully and of the rest only a stanza or half song is played.
Overall I’d say that its an average movie. Don’t go to the theatre expecting much cause you’ll be greatly disappointed.
