I had couriered the Demand Draft and Form 60 to Dell on Saturday. They received it on Monday and the system processing has started. I checked the order status at Dell website yesterday and it states, Work in Progress. The estimated delivery date is 26th May.

Immediately on seeing the above page, I called my brother to tell him about it. And he told me to ask the Sales Executive, the time required to build the system.

When I tweeted about this, Sathya was quick to point out that the site was not reliable.

I talked with the Dell Sales Executive and he told that if all the parts are available in the factory, it takes one day. If the parts are not available, maximum two days are needed. The next day the laptop gets tested and after that it is handed over to the Logistics Dept. for the shipping.

Well.. am hoping that everything goes on well and I get it by this weekend

An aunty who studied with Sara badi mummy attends our Church. Her youngest daughter’s husband works in the Sales Tax Dept. As I had to get the Authorization letter signed by the Sales Tax Authority, mom contacted the didi.. Now we didn’t knew that jeejaji was stationed at a Check Point and was not in Raipur. So she talked with him and then told me to come to her office[she's the Manager @ Co-operative Bank here] with the letter and she will get it signed by sending it to the Tax dept.

I went there at around 11:30am and chatted for a while with didi. She asked me if I had any work to do and all.. As I was free at that moment, I told her that. She then told me it would be best for me to accompany her peon to the Sales Tax office. Jeejaji had talked with a co-worker of his [Mr. ABC] and asked him to get the job done.

We reached the office @ around 12pm and went to see Mr. ABC

Peon: Sir Namaskar.. I am Kiran Mam’s peon. This is the girl Sir talked to you about.
Mr. ABC: Whats your name?
Me: Grace, Sir
[I give the letter to him and he skims over it]
Mr. ABC: Hmm.. you are buying it for your personal use naa… [it was already mentioned in the letter]
Me: Yes Sir.. the company wants the letter for their record purposes..
Mr. ABC: ok..
Mr. ABC: You live in [XX] area?
Me: Yes Sir.
Mr. ABC: Then you have to contact Mr. DEF as he deals with the things related to your area.

Dell Sales Executives called me yesterday and also sent in the quotations and all.

He asked me where I would like the laptop to be delivered. And I was like, Raipur.. where else?Now the problem is that the Chhattisgarh Govt. hasn’t approved for VAT and all taxes.. that means I’ll have to get a Authorization Letter signed and stamped by the Sales Tax Authorities @ Raipur. So he suggested me to get it delivered in Madhya Pradesh or some other states.

Now my options were getting it delivered @ my sister’s place in Saugar. And then they can tug along the box for me when they come to Raipur on 21st of this month. Or better still get it delivered in New Delhi @ badi mummy’s place and then either she would bring it here in her next visit or courier it to me (would cost around 2k)

So the best option would be to get the Sales Tax formality completed.. We know some people there so can hope of obtaining it soon.

Next mission: To get the letter signed and prepare the DD, will get it done in the next couple of days..
